Intentionally creating a more inclusive environment on the Kansas State University campus by supporting the development of the leadership capacities necessary to dismantle forms of institutional racism and oppression. The Cats for Inclusion Campaign does this work by hosting anti-racism and anti-oppression education and actions. The Cats for Inclusion Campaign is committed participatory civic work, social justice, and accountability.
By taking this pledge, I support the following action items for Kansas State University presented below. These recommended action items are the result of a series anti-racism and anti-oppression work sessions that were hosted by a LEAD 405 Leadership and Practice section, offered by the Staley School of Leadership Studies, and the Black Student Union in fall 2015.
- Required discussion-based curricular and co-curricular experiences that prepare incoming K-State students, staff, and faculty to take anti-racism and anti-oppression perspectives.
- Funding the construction of a centrally located Multicultural Student Center becomes a priority of the President, Vice President of Student Life and Associate Provost of Diversity.
